The primary aim of the eighth Civil Strategy Symposium, themed 'Sustainable Urbanization and Quality of Life: The Role of Civil Society,' is to raise public awareness and create comprehensive awareness in the field of sustainable urbanization. This symposium, which addresses the strategic relationships between civil society, the private sector, and the public sector, as well as current strategic issues, aims to enhance and share knowledge and experience in innovative studies and projects in the field of sustainable urbanization. Additionally, strengthening the role of civil society organizations in sustainable urbanization processes is an important goal. It is also intended that each integrated institution contributes to the development of effective policies and strategies for sustainable urbanization.

The 2024 theme of the symposium series, 'Sustainable Urbanization and Quality of Life: The Role of Civil Society,' aims to contribute to the implementation of SDG 11, 'Sustainable Cities and Communities,' and SDG 17, 'Partnerships for the Goals,' as outlined by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. Furthermore, it aims to support the achievement of the concepts emphasized in Türkiye's 12th Development Plan for 2024-2028, specifically 'Healthy Society' and 'Sustainable Environment.' In this context, the symposium will address the contributions and roles of civil society in the sustainable planning and management of cities in Türkiye. Ensuring the sustainability of cities in Türkiye, improving the quality of life in urban areas, and making cities more resilient are crucial for achieving both the global Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives of Türkiye's development plan.
